Allow Me to Introduce Myself

If you’ve seen me on TikTok, you might know me from my usual intro: “Hi! I’m Sara, and I’m a Registered Dietitian.” Some people find it repetitive or even annoying, but for others, it immediately catches their attention.

I decided to go back to school because I had reached a point in my career where the repetition in my work was limiting. As a dietitian, my focus had been very much at a micro level, but I realized I thrive when working at a macro level—shaping systems, strategies, and creating broader impact. My goal now is to pivot while expanding my career and building a strong professional network along the way, learning from new challenges and opportunities.

After exploring many options for graduate programs, I chose NYU's Integrated Marketing program. I was accepted into two other online programs, but I knew that if I was serious about making this change, an in-person experience would be the most impactful. Moving to a program in a field where I had little prior work experience was intimidating—but I was ready for the challenge. I realized I had reached a point in my life where I needed to make a change—not just improve, but do things differently in order to truly grow. I decided to move to another challenging and expensive city, one that would give me new opportunities to grow, not only professionally, but personally too.

Working in healthcare over the past few years has sometimes felt like working in ancient times. I have so much to learn about various platforms, trends, and AI tools. Fortunately, I do have experience with WIX, copywriting, and social media from both personal and professional projects, which gives me a foundation to build on. The goal of this blog is to share my growth journey as a Registered Dietitian pivoting in her career—navigating a steep learning curve and discovering how to translate my skills into a new field. Through this class, I hope to gain structured knowledge of digital marketing strategies, learn how to analyze and engage audiences effectively, and gain confidence in creating campaigns that make a real impact.
